Growing up, I enjoyed art, sketching, painting and photography, and excelled in Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra and the Sciences. When it came time to decide upon a career, my school counselor and parents seemed to think architecture was the perfect combination of those areas. My dad worked in the Facilities Department at Creighton University for 39 years, so I was exposed to the construction industry and many related trades through that experience as well.
I manage the Architecture Department for SCHEMMER, which involves staffing, training, operational efficiency, mentoring and teamwork. I also enjoyed being involved in projects as Project Manager and Architect. In addition to managing the Architectural Department, I’m involved with business development and marketing, and strategic business planning. My project experience has been long and varied over my 30+ year career, namely educational, recreational, religious, municipal and retail sectors. My goal in the next five years is to develop client relationships and add work to the backlog for the Architectural Division, as well as growing the Architectural Department staff with a focus on design quality, efficiency and transition. Having our young professionals embrace their passions, develop in their professional life, and have them become aware of the unlimited opportunities ahead of them at SCHEMMER. It is rewarding to create projects that our people enjoy working on and are proud of. One personal achievement I will never forget, was obtaining my architectural license.
