My passion is learning new things and applying that knowledge to create new possibilities.
When I was in high school I saw a magazine in a bookstore with a photo of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater on the cover. That imagery and the article about the history of the building really inspired me to become an architect. It is still one of my favorite designs. After high school I headed off to North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota where I pursued my architecture degree. Go Bison!
Architecture gave me the opportunity to travel to new places. The summer before my last year of architecture school, I participated in a study abroad program where we had instructor lead classes/tours in London and Rome. My travels that summer also included visits to Paris, Lyon, Barcelona, Florence and Athens. It was an exciting and challenging adventure, academically and personally.
As an architect I enjoy the challenge and the feeling of accomplishment that comes from collaborating and leading a diverse group of people through all the steps needed for a successful project. It gives me great personal satisfaction knowing I helped an organization and the individuals within that organization achieve their goals.
Outside of the office, I enjoy bike riding, golfing, evening walks with my wife, reading and watching movies. I even built a home theater in my basement that includes a modified computer that allows my entire family to enjoy 3D movies at home on an eight-foot screen. It’s hard to find a movie that everyone agrees on, but our family has enjoyed watching a wide range of movies from Pirates of the Caribbean to Predator to Monsters University.
