I want to share with you the best advice I have ever received – remember that life is a gift to be cherished and enjoyed.
The meaning of our lives is something we create day after day with our own actions and thoughts. These are words I live by and strive to translate both in my personal and professional life. As an architect, I find fulfillment in growing and cultivating relationships. I have discovered that the most rewarding parts of my job are working with a team and designing projects that we can be proud of, and most importantly, having a happy client at the end of the project.
When I am not in the office, you can find me enjoying nature and its many attributes. My favorite outdoor activities include camping, fishing, landscaping, exploring the woods with my dogs and sitting around an open fire pit at night. I surround myself with nature as much as I possibly can. It’s amazing how relaxing it is to just sit back and enjoy the sounds of the woods and birds. It really makes you appreciate nature and its beauty.
Another special place I find tranquility is at home. My family and I live on property in the Loess Hills area, north of Council Bluffs, Iowa, that was once a commercial apple orchard for many years. Over the last several years, we have been planting fruit trees to try and retain the feel of the original orchard, but with no intent to return it to a commercial operation – only to simply enjoy nature and its plentiful gifts.
