Program Building/ Safe Shelter
This 1,250 SF facility replaces the North Valley Shelter destroyed by an F3 tornado in June 2008, and provides comparable program function capabilities. The building includes a program room, kitchenette, storage room, and handicapped-accessible restrooms and shower. This facility is a community safe shelter, designed in general conformance with FEMA 361 Design and Construction guidance for community shelters. Based on the FEMA guidelines of 5 SF per person, the facility has the capacity of approximately 200 people, including adequate wheelchair space.
Facilities / Safe Shelter
The 1,200 SF shower facility replaces a similar shower structure in the North Valley and several latrines damaged beyond reasonable repair by the 2008 tornado. The new building serve as a safe shelter and has been designed in general conformance with FEMA 361 Design and Construction Guidance for community shelters. The building includes individual showers, individual toilet compartments plus handicapped accessible compartments, as well as a mechanical room and small laundry area. The resulting space provides a safe shelter for approximately 190 people, including adequate wheelchair space.
