Livingston's Way

Nebraska City, Nebraska

In 2008, the City demolished a deteriorated building in Nebraska City's historic downtown main street.  Schemmer was retained to design the stabilization of the two adjoining buildings and design a new structural element to visually close the gap and serve as an entrance to the small pocket park between the two buildings.  Several design concepts were proposed.  The solution was a steel structure, transparent portal that provides an area of respite along the sidewalk and a tree-lined alley in the pocket park.

  • Structural stabilization
  • Facility assessment
