This project is an addition to an existing senior living community to provide a greater continuum of care. Schemmer designed 12 Memory Support apartments with private bedrooms, and 9 two-bedroom Assisted Living apartments intended to serve couples, including when one of the residents requires a higher level of care than possible in independent living. The Lighthouse features two Long-Term Care households of 16 apartments (18 beds) each. Larger corner apartments are designed for couples. Overhead lifts in each apartment are among the concepts to promote safety, privacy and dignity. Baths are European-style with non-enclosed showers to enhance the staff's ability to assist.
