Schemmer provided final bridge design and limited construction phase services for a replacement structure on IA141 over Middle Raccoon River. The structure consists of a three-span 229 foot by 44 foot PPCB bridge. Integral abutments and T-piers, founded on steel H-piling, were designed for the substructure elements. Standard IDOT Bulb Tee B Beams with an eight-inch cast in-place concrete slab were designed for the superstructure elements. Staged construction was not utilized as an off-site detour was used. The project included special aesthetic details consisting of a special barrier section, pier treatments and pier “extensions” with surface texturing.
