Project Details

The historic Nonpareil Building in Council Bluffs was being considered for historical status by the National Trust for Historical Preservation. As such, Schemmer prepared a Phase I Site Inventory Form for the Iowa State Historical Preservation Society which described the 1926 neoclassical revival style building, a history of the Nonpareil Newspaper’s occupation of this structure from 1926 to 2002, and an assessment of the building envelope. The structure was covered by a precast concrete facade in 1963, and the current owners intend to remove the “slipcover” and restore the 10,000 SF, two-story building to its original appearance.
