The renovation and addition to Northwest High School included an eight-classroom addition of 9,700 SF on two levels, renovation of the library media area, a music room addition and renovation, a cafeteria addition and renovation, mechanical systems upgrade including the upgrade to variable air volume (VAV) terminals and a new direct digital control system, electrical system improvements and upgrades involving lighting, technology and power services.
The project was phased over two school terms to allow students to remain in the building during construction. Building additions were constructed first and, during the summer months, work accelerated in the interior. This allowed the relocation of students within the building during the third major phase. During the second summer, all final interior work was completed, with on-time delivery by August.
