Project Details
Schemmer was retained for a renovation and addition for Weeping Water Public Schools. The plan will add a 68,000 SF addition, which will bring the students under one roof. The project includes renovation of the existing building to incorporate new energy efficient HVAC for heating and cooling of the existing building and a new fire sprinkler system. An eight classroom room addition to the northwest corner of the existing elementary school will house Pre-K, Kindergarten, Head Start and additional classrooms and all portable classrooms will be eliminated. A new handicapped entrance will provide access to a fenced playground for younger students. The east addition includes a new competition gymnasium, biology lab, life science classrooms and home economics. The gymnasium will have a wrestling room at court level with weights and aerobics mezzanine above with walking track. New handicapped assessable locker rooms will also double as the entire schools storm shelter. The south addition will include the media center, administrative offices and new secured main entrance. School security, traffic flow for student drop-off points and parking will also be improved.
