Growing up, I wanted to be either an artist or a contractor.
I loved making things and was torn between art and construction as my career choice. It wasn’t until High School that I thought about architecture. Thirty one years later, I am an architect and project manager at Schemmer. The diversity of the projects we work on and helping our clients solve their problems creatively defines my favorite part of the job. The most important thing we do is listen to our clients. It’s difficult to solve a problem successfully if you don’t take the time to figure out what the problem is or what the cause might be. On my days out of the office, I enjoy getting together with family, riding my motorcycle and reading books with my granddaughter. I bought my first bike, a Kawasaki 750, in 1974 and have been riding ever since. I now own a Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan Nomad that I ride around Omaha, but the best place I have driven it is up in the Colorado Mountains. You just can’t beat that view.
