AEI International Student Design Competition

Winners of the 2020 AEI International Student Design Competition (ISDC) were announced on April 22, 2020, during a Virtual Awards Ceremony hosted by Jonathan U. Dougherty, Ph.D., Chair of the competition committee. Schemmer's Nate Schmidt participated on the University of Nebraska team.

The AEI Student Design Competition was established in 2010 as an annual event, specifically for the architectural engineering programs to highlight and showcase the value of

  • collaboration,
  • competition, and
  • peer review,

all of which are important in the development of designs in the professional world.

Sixteen teams from 11 different universities competed in the competition, which included the design of a 200,000 SF recreational center on the Virginia Tech campus.
