Project Spotlight: Lakeside Auto Recyclers Shredder Facility
Lakeside Auto Recyclers is a third-generation, family-owned business located in Carter Lake, Iowa serving the Omaha and Council Bluffs area for more than 40 years.
When Lakeside Auto decided to expand and enhance their recycling operations with new equipment and buildings, Hawkins Construction was retained, and Schemmer was an obvious fit as a design partner for the Team.
The project entailed the deep foundation design for a new metal shredder and the design of four accessory buildings consisting of:
- shredder control building,
- fluid disposal building
- fine metals sorting building
- an office/operations building
Schemmer worked hand-in-hand with Lakeside Auto and the City to ensure compliance with all of the planning and zoning requirements of Carter Lake. Schemmer also worked closely with Lakeside Auto’s multiple equipment vendors to coordinate the design of the buildings to provide maximum efficiency of use.
