Plans for Enhanced City Centre Connectivity in La Vista, NE
Exciting news for La Vista, NE residents! Schemmer, in collaboration with Design Workshop, is proud to announce plans for a transformative pedestrian trail system and underpass project that will elevate the ongoing civic enrichment construction and connect key community hubs. This project is just the first step in improving accessibility and environmental awareness, promising to seamlessly integrate La Vista's present and future.
The project involves constructing a bridge over Thompson Creek and a 10 ft. wide pedestrian trail on both sides of 84th St., stretching from Giles Rd. to Harrison St. This project puts the trail in place, while future projects will add streetscaping elements including trees, shrubs, and benches adding vibrance to the 84th street corridor.
The bridge at Thompson Creek will provide for future pedestrian access just north of City Centre. The bridge, having a 50 ft. wide opening beneath 84th Street, will provide opportunity for eventual connectivity projects and safe and convenient passage between the Central Park/City Centre and future park developments on the west side.
With a projected construction start date of August 2025, this transformative project promises to redefine how La Vista residents and visitors experience the heart of their community. The project will not only enhance connectivity and accessibility but also create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, fostering a deeper appreciation for La Vista's natural beauty and civic identity.
