Project Details

Schemmer designed an addition to the Biomechanics Research Building at the University of Nebraska – Omaha (UNO). The 30,760 SF addition more than doubles the size of the existing building (completed in 2013), also designed by Schemmer. Spaces in the addition include laboratories, instructional space, offices and collaboration space for students and researchers on three levels. The site design required rerouting of utilities for the addition including a major campus storm sewer. Underground chambers hold storm water collected from the building’s roof.

Schemmer provided: architecture; interior design; mechanical, electrical, structural, civil and geotechnical engineering; and survey services.

The Biomechanics Research Building is the only standalone building in the world dedicated solely to this area of study. UNO is at the forefront of cutting-edge biomechanics research.
