Project Details

Schemmer designed this replacement bridge to satisfy the 100-year storm event as it impacted the hydrology in the upstream areas. The final design included a simple span bridge using low profile Inverted Tee, pre-tensioned pre-stressed concrete beams. The roadway was also greatly improved by significantly raising the approach grade, which removed the dangerous crest at the bridge. Hydraulic modeling of the bridge included several iterations of berm grading below the proposed bridge to ensure the best bank configuration for mitigating high flow velocities. Scour analysis and permitting was performed following NDOT guidelines and forms. Schemmer provided geotechnical engineering, hydraulic analyses, roadway and structural engineering, permit application services and construction engineering.
