Schemmer was retained for a 1,750 SF interior renovation of Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC)’s located on the second floor in the Medical Arts Building. The renovation converted existing clinic rooms into the new Brownell Emergency Clinic. The new emergency clinic expanded capabilities with four private patient rooms and two trauma bays with collapsible walls should a large emergency require more room. The trauma rooms have movable booms that contain all equipment necessary to care for a patient in critical condition, all within staff’s reach for ease of access.
The central nurses’ station and nurse call system provides staff efficient supervision of patients. The emergency clinic is fitted with new monitoring and vitals equipment in each room. Central monitoring offers patient privacy while giving staff constant feedback through vital signs and electrocardiogram strips. The area offers security features that address patient’s safety by utilizing electronic entry to all doors.
