Project Details
Schemmer worked with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue to develop a design for the Sioux Falls Fire Station No. 2 that would bring the building up to current codes and life safety standards. The 3,000 SF design includes a new apparatus bay addition that houses an aerial ladder truck and an emergency response vehicle. The engine approach and departure maneuvering spaces were modified by reconstructing the driveway to make it safer for the public and fire rescue personnel.
The architecture of the Sioux Falls Fire Station No. 2 was entirely changed from a nondescript residential character to a strong municipal design statement. The fire department is proud of its new facility and new appearance.
