Schemmer and Boyd Jones Construction were selected as the Design-Build team to provide design and construction services for a new service center facility for the Southern Power District. The project consists of a new building to house the service trucks and equipment, warehouse to store components and supplies, reception and payment area with front counter, offices and lineman work area, multi-purpose room for meetings, kitchenette, restrooms, corridors, mechanical/electrical room and storage.
The site contains a four- to five-acre pole yard including pole racks and concrete pads for outside storage areas. The perimeter of the site is secured with a fenced area including security gates for non-public access and an area for employee parking. The main entrance includes access for the public including parking for approximately five to eight vehicles. Site utility infrastructure was also included in the project.
