Schemmer Announces Six New Associates
Schemmer is pleased to announce six employees have recently been invited to the Associate Incentive Program (AIP): Ana Hanke, EI; Elena Hoff, PE; Barrick Rosenbaum, PE; Seth Shannon, AIA; Lona Smart; and Steve Thompson. These employees have demonstrated the characteristics necessary to participate in the program.
Ana Hanke, EI, has more than six years of experience in site development of both public and private projects through civil engineering. Ana’s experience includes industrial, commercial, and education (K-12). Ana received a Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering from The Illinois Institute of Technology in 2014.
Ana is currently working toward her professional engineer license. She is an active member of the Omaha Engineers Club and the Society of Women Engineers. Ana mentors students through the ACE Mentor Program where students learn about the field of architecture, construction, and engineering. Ana is also a co-chairperson of the Schemmer Gives Back program.
Elena Hoff, PE, has more than eight years of experience as a structural engineer and has designed many commercial, industrial, education, and multi-family facilities. She is licensed in Colorado, Nebraska, and Iowa, and has design experience across 16 states. Elena recently relocated to Denver to establish Schemmer as a premier design firm in the mountain region.
Elena obtained a Bachelor’s in Physics from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon in 2013 and completed her Master’s of Science in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structures at the University of Nebraska in 2016. During her graduate studies, she focused on sustainable structures and is currently leading the sustainability committee at Schemmer while acting as the Embodied Carbon Champion for Schemmer's commitment to SE2050. Elena is a member of the Carbon Leadership Forum, USGBC Colorado, and SEAC (Structural Engineers of Colorado.) Elena is also a co-chairperson of the Schemmer Gives Back program and is an active member of the Schemmer Leadership Academy.
Barrick Rosenbaum, PE, has more than 33 years of civil engineering experience in transportation, municipal, and site development of both public and private projects. Barrick’s experience includes industrial, commercial, residential, municipal street, and infrastructure as well as Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) roadway projects. Barrick received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1988.
Barrick is currently licensed in seven states and is a member of ASCE and APWA. He enjoys working with clients to achieve their goals. Barrick is currently a member of the Schemmer Leadership Academy and enjoys building new relationships throughout the community.
Seth Shannon, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, GGP, has 21 years of experience in the architectural field and 14 years as a licensed architect. Seth’s experience has crossed most markets, including mixed-use development, multi-family development, industrial, civic/municipal, state government, federal government, medical clinics, research laboratories, historical preservation, athletic/recreation, commercial/corporate office, higher education, and K-12 education. Seth received a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University in 2002.
He has earned professional accreditation in both LEED and Green Globes sustainability certification programs and has acted as project administrator for several certified buildings across multiple markets. Seth has served on the committee for Canstruction Central Iowa through AIA Iowa and for the Iowa Food and Family Project through the Iowa Soybean Association.
Lona Smart has over 20 years of experience related to all aspects of organizational development. She has led teams through a complex public/private partnership and provided leadership development, one-on-one coaching and strategic planning services to a variety of business types and leaders. Prior to joining Schemmer, Lona facilitated key aspects of Schemmer Leadership Academy for eight cohorts of participants before officially joining Schemmer in 2021.
Lona earned her Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa. She has a passion for helping organizations, communities, and individuals reach their full potential which explains her background in behavioral health.
Steve Thompson, LEED AP+BD+C, has more than 36 years of experience in the field of architecture, construction, and project management. Steve’s design, construction, and project management experience ranges from Federal & State Government, VA Medical, to Military as well as a wide variety of commercial, retail, and recreational projects.
Steve’s favorite project was working with Walt Disney Imagineering (Burbank CA Studios) as part of the design team developing the Toy Story Mania attraction in Disney Land and Disney World Theme parks. Steve attended Southeast Technical College and Augustana University. He is currently working toward his CDT (Construction Documents Technology) certification to become a CSI Certified specification writer.
