Schemmer project featured in the Summer 2012 edition of UNO Magazine

Schemmer's Biomechanics Research Facility design rendering was featured in the Summer 2012 edition of UNO Magazine, the "flagship publication of the University of Nebraska at Omaha." With the growing student population, the University is forgoing numerous expansions that will offer students more choices in the future.

The article mentioned that the Biomechanics Research Facility will also accommodate a new Ph.D. in exercise science program, which has not been available to students in Nebraska until now. The Nebraska Biomechanics Core Facility is currently occupying the Health, Physical Education and Recreation building (HPER), but will be moving to a new location southwest of Al Caniglia Field.

Schemmer architect, R. William Cramer, AIA, will lead the design effort as project manager. The building will include 5,553 net square feet of laboratory spaces, specifically designed for existing projects and equipment currently housed in the Nebraska Biomechanics Core Facility (NBCF). The specific aim of design supports the long term goals of providing biomechanical expertise to surgeons, physical therapists, biomedical engineers and other related professionals seeking to gain insight into movement related problems. The project is estimated to be completed in August 2013.
