The 2015 Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Walk/Run was held on Saturday April 25 at Chalco Hills. This event helps to support the The University of Nebraska Student Chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB-NU). The chapter works with the community of Kianjavato, Madagascar to address both their drinking water and energy needs. The chapter has over 70 active student members at the University of Nebraska campuses in Lincoln and Omaha. EWB-NU students are currently working solar energy projects to install lights in school classrooms and on water supply projects to provide clean, safe drinking water for the community.
Schemmer, along with other engineering firms, sponsored the event, and Schemmer’s Human Resources Manager, Grace Stoddard, serves on the event committee. Schemmer participants included members of the Stoddard, Higgins, Kirchert, Laferriere and Klostermann families. Next year’s event is planned for Saturday April 23, 2016. Please consider joining us in support of these future engineers, and the positive impact they are making in the community.
