Tuesday, May 5th, 2015, marked another year of the annual Boys Town Booster Banquet, which was held at the La Vista Conference Center. Several Schemmer employees including Scott Heaney, Shane Swope, Adam Sleeper, Mark Higgins, MJ Nachreiner, Kelly Hiskey, Charly Huddleston, Matt Hubel and Jeff Wageman (not pictured), along with Schemmer President and Boys Town Booster Steve Kathol, as well as about 1,500 others attended the banquet, which raises money for athletic programs at Boys Town.
The banquet entailed a live and silent auction, raffle drawing, dinner and keynote speaker Shane Battier, Duke All-American and Miami Heat NBA Champion. In addition, student athletes were recognized with awards for their achievements throughout the year.
The Boosters are made up of Omaha Business Leaders who meet during the year to plan the event and sell tickets to the banquet. Their primary goal is to raise money through this annual banquet and make sure proper equipment, uniforms and other necessities are available, so any child who wants to play sports can do so.
A Booster since 2006, Kathol said he enjoys his involvement and support of this organization because it provides resources for kids to have an opportunity to be part of team and develop a feeling of accomplishment and purpose, while learning valuable life lessons along the way.
