Barry's wants to put shades on its roof

Schemmer's Michael Sinclair, AIA, was quoted in a Lincoln Journal Star article discussing the new sunshades Schemmer is designing to go over the rooftop seating area of Barry's Bar and Grill.
As one of Lincoln's most popular locations on Husker game days, Barry's previously had plans for a tent-like structure to shade the roof, but it was never built. The large, removable shades will be anchored to steel poles and will not significantly obstruct any views of the Haymarket.
"If you've ever been on the roof deck on a sunny day, you can attest to how uncomfortable you can be," Sinclair told members of the Historic Preservation Commission at Thursday's meeting. Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness to permit the installation of the shades.
