Schemmer's project, The Forge (Odd Fellows Building) Restoration and Renovation, has received the Signature Project Award from the 2020 Main Street Iowa Awards.
Main Street Iowa Awards Recognize Outstanding Achievements
The Main Street Iowa Awards program recognizes the efforts of those who work day-in and day-out to revitalize Iowa’s downtown areas – the heart and soul of communities across the state. The awards honor outstanding:
- accomplishments,
- activities
- and people
making a difference in the state’s 55 designated Main Street Iowa districts. This year, 19 projects were selected from 155 competitive nominations submitted in 13 different categories.
The awards ceremony, previously scheduled for April 3, was canceled due to the recent coronavirus concerns.
The Forge, Receives Signature Award
The Signature Project Award is described as a project that rose above the traditional award categories in regard to impact and significance. The Forge is a tech training center designed to help grow and retain tech talent in rural Iowa. Schemmer provided architectural services for the renovation of the historic building.
