Students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney can get through the daily grind of classes a little bit easier this fall semester with the recent opening of Starbucks. The new coffeehouse is a part of Schemmer's Nebraskan Student Union Renovation which is revitalizing approximately two-thirds of the ground floor and upgrading interior finishes in the primary circulation spaces of the student union. The new design provides a more prominent welcome desk, better sightlines and wayfinding, and more open and connected student space in the building that has had two large additions and various renovations over 53 years. Aesthetics and activity level will enhance and enliven the Union to provide a unique recruitment tool for new students. The food court will have a multiscreen video wall. Starbucks and Chick-fil-A were incorporated as retail food service providers in the food court to supplement the existing Subway restaurant. Chick-fil-A is scheduled to open August 20.
