Lincoln, NE – Each year, Schemmer selects a non-profit to donate architectural & engineering design services through a program called Schemmer Gives Back. It’s a way we live out one of our core values: Build Community. We are excited to announce that our 2025/2026 non-profit partner is The Foundry: a non-profit hub located in downtown Lincoln, NE.

The Schemmer Gives Back Selection Committee had many non-profits to consider this year. When reviewing applications, we asked ourselves, “how can we help the most people?” The Foundry is a non-profit organization that provides support and space for dozens of other non-profits. So we knew The Foundry was a clear path towards that goal of helping as many people as possible.

So on a hot summer day, two members of the selection committee, Project Manager Michael Sinclair and Civil Engineer Ryan Bell, set out to Lincoln to meet with The Foundry and see firsthand the incredible work they do.

“I think it’s a really fun community. Seeing the multi-generational aspect of it, and the energy being brought to the table. It just makes for a strong and vibrant community. You could feel it and see it in their eyes when they talk about their work.” – Michael Sinclair, Project Manager.

That same energy and excitement shined through as The Foundry found out they were selected for Schemmer Gives Back.

“I was shocked because it’s so competitive for grants. We’re just so grateful!” – Executive Director Julie Murray-Jensen.

Perfect Timing

The Foundry’s focus on being a space for collaboration, inspiration, and a safe and steady place for people to do their best work has led them to a time for growth.

“For years we’ve asked how we can make the most of this space. If the opportunity came, how could we expand it to serve more people? We want a space that brings generations together. One that inspires today’s leaders and tomorrow’s. This grant with Schemmer hit at the perfect time,” said Murray-Jensen.

Now, Schemmer will help The Foundry take that idea to the next level. We have been tasked to reimagine their existing space and make it one that will continue to make an impact for generations to come.

“It’s humbling to be on the receiving end. We’re usually the ones offering support, but now we get to strengthen the foundation so we can keep others strong too. That’s what this partnership with Schemmer means.”
