Steve Kathol, PE, SE, FACEC
President and Chief Executive Officer
Steve leads Schemmer’s teams across nine offices, helping guide the firm’s direction while staying grounded in the work that matters most: delivering thoughtful, reliable solutions for clients and communities.
Steve’s background is rooted in transportation engineering, where he spent years leading complex roadway and bridge projects. From early planning through final approvals, he has worked closely with agencies, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to move projects forward and get them built the right way.
He has long been active in the industry, serving in leadership roles with American Council of Engineering Companies Nebraska and American Society of Civil Engineers Nebraska Section. His contributions have been recognized with the ACEC-NE Charles Durham Achievement Award, and he was elected to the ACEC National College of Fellows.
Outside the office, Steve stays just as involved. He serves on the boards of the Boy Scouts of America Mid-America Council, ACE Mentor Program of Greater Omaha, and Boys Town Boosters, supporting the next generation of leaders in both the community and the profession. When he’s not working, you’ll likely find Steve on the golf course, in the kitchen, or tackling a home project. He also makes his own wine using grapes sourced from California.
At the core of it all, Steve believes in the role the A/E industry plays in improving quality of life and takes pride in helping lead that mission forward.
