Steve brings nearly four decades of experience in architecture, leading projects from early design through construction with a steady, detail-focused approach. His work includes new construction, additions, and renovations across a wide range of project types, including federal, state, and military facilities, K-12 and higher education, commercial, retail, office, multi-family housing, and recreational projects.

As the Architecture Manager for Schemmer’s Sioux Falls office, Steve leads the architectural team and oversees production, helping ensure projects stay on track and meet both client expectations and professional standards. He works closely with project managers and staff, providing guidance and support to keep projects moving forward and teams aligned.

Steve is known for his attention to detail and his commitment to doing things the right way, qualities that have earned his clients’ and colleagues’ trust throughout his career. He is also a member of the Construction Specifications Institute.

Outside of work, Steve has spent many years coaching, including 15 years with girls’ travel fast-pitch softball and youth baseball. His teams reached Nationals multiple times, with two top-10 finishes. He and his wife are also on a mission to visit every Major League Baseball park, following the Minnesota Twins to different stadiums, while adding as many minor league parks as they can. When he’s not traveling, Steve enjoys both open-water and ice fishing.
