Schemmer provided programming and preliminary design for a new Professional Truck Driver Training Facility. Tasks included conceptual site and building design, cost estimate, project budget, presentation drawings including 3D renderings that SCC can use for development.
The project consists of a 17,000 SF building located on a 120-acre site. The building includes two classrooms, one designed for a simulator, student support spaces, offices, a 12-stall Truck Lab and a Wash Bay for semis. A second level “Crow’s Nest” allows instructors to observe training taking place on the site.
The site design enables training for a variety of maneuvers truck drivers are required to perfect. A Backing Concourse is laid out for various operations such as blindside parallel parking, 90-degree alley dock parking, angled dock parking, and pull-out/back-in. A one-mile, two-way, road is designed for a variety of road configurations.
