Derik brings more than two decades of experience as a Civil Design Technician, supporting a wide range of projects through detailed, hands-on design work. His experience includes grading, site layout, roadway profiles, cross-sections, pipelines, utility systems, and storm sewer design, giving him a strong understanding of how projects come together from the ground up.

He earned his Associate of Applied Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Metropolitan Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Technology from Black Hills State University. Derik is a graduate of Schemmer’s Leadership Academy and holds a LEED Accredited Professional credential with a Building Design and Construction endorsement. He is also a Microsoft Certified Professional and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council Flatwater Chapter. In addition, he holds a Remote Pilot Certificate for small unmanned aircraft systems.

Derik’s background as a college football player reflects the team-oriented mindset he brings to his work today. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active, and listening to music. He also likes to joke that he’s still figuring out what he wants to be when he grows up.
