With a decade of experience at Schemmer and a graduate of the 2024/2025 Schemmer Leadership Academy, Kira has contributed to a diverse range of project types, including K-12 and higher education, commercial spaces, senior living facilities, healthcare buildings, and institutional projects. Her dual background in architecture and interior design allows her to deliver innovative solutions that enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of spaces.
Kira is actively involved in all phases of project design, from initial concepts and 3D modeling to detailed design documentation and construction documents. She is skilled in materials selection, renderings, and the coordination of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) packages. Her project portfolio features work on the CCVI Sisters Replacement Monastery and Renovation, Corning Community School District Master Plan and Elementary School, Broadwell Senior Living, Children’s Square U.S.A. Academic Center Renovation, USDA Human Nutrition Research Bio-Science Labs, and numerous facility assessments and master plans for faith-based and senior living organizations.
Kira holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Iowa State University. She is a licensed architect and registered interior designer in Iowa and holds NCARB and NCIDQ Certificates.
- Loves figuring out how to make things, jewelry, crafting, and sourdough.
- Her brother and her are 7th generation to live and work on the family farm growing up.
- Grew up with horses and if she wasn’t architect or interior designer, she would have been a barrel racer.
