Kira brings a decade of experience at Schemmer, working across a wide range of project types including K-12 and higher education, commercial spaces, senior living, healthcare, and institutional facilities. With a background in both architecture and interior design, she approaches each project with a focus on creating spaces that are both functional and thoughtfully designed.

She is involved in all phases of design, from early concepts and 3D modeling through detailed documentation and construction. Kira also works closely on materials selection, renderings, and coordinating furniture, fixtures, and equipment, helping ensure each space comes together as intended.

Her project experience includes work on the CCVI Sisters Replacement Monastery and Renovation, the Corning Community School District master plan and elementary school, Broadwell Senior Living, Children’s Square U.S.A. Academic Center Renovation, and the United States Department of Agriculture Human Nutrition Research Bio-Science Labs, along with a variety of facility assessments and master plans.

Kira earned both her Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Iowa State University. She is a licensed architect and registered interior designer in Iowa and holds NCARB and NCIDQ certifications.

Outside of work, Kira enjoys creating and building things, from jewelry and crafting to baking sourdough. She is part of a family with deep roots, as a seventh-generation member connected to a working farm, and grew up around horses. If she had taken a different path, she would likely be a barrel racer.
