What is an ambulatory care center?
Ambulatory Health Care including Ambulatory Care Centers is a special type of healthcare environment. Ambulatory care is medical care provided on an outpatient basis, including:
- diagnosis,
- observation,
- consultation,
- treatment,
- intervention and
- rehabilitation services.
This care can include advanced medical technology and procedures even when provided outside of hospitals.
There are several advantages to having procedures done in an Ambulatory Care Center:
For the patient-
- It may be located closer to the patient.
- The access and parking to the clinic may be more convenient.
- Procedures could have fewer costs.
- Patients can recover at home more comfortably with less stress.
- Procedure scheduling may be more reliable.
For the doctor-
- Ownership of the facility.
- Flexibility in scheduling.
- More control and say in patient care and experience.
Ambulatory Care Center Requirements
With local and nationwide experience in the healthcare industry, the Schemmer team has a clear and in-depth understanding of its unique needs and challenges. Our team understands that Ambulatory Care Centers have much more stringent requirements for fire and occupancy separations and exiting, and cannot be accommodated by all office buildings. Ambulatory Care Centers may not be allowed on all levels of the building. Adding Ambulatory Care Centers to an existing building may have requirements that make it cost-prohibitive with certain existing structures or infrastructure. More parking is required for Ambulatory Care Centers then a regular office building and some sites or existing office buildings may not be able to accommodate the parking needs.
