This addition at the University of Nebraska Omaha spans 30,760 square feet, more than doubling the size of the original building designed by Schemmer in 2013. It stands as the only standalone building globally dedicated exclusively to biomechanics research, featuring state-of-the-art laboratories, instructional spaces, offices, and collaboration areas across three levels. The thoughtful site design required rerouting utilities, including a major campus storm sewer, and implementing underground chambers to manage stormwater from the building’s roof.
This project significantly enhances the operational capacity of the Biomechanics Program, contributing to the University of Nebraska Omaha's leadership in biomechanics research. It facilitates advancements in various domains such as gait neurophysiology, neuromuscular control, and virtual reality rehabilitation, fostering an environment of learning and discovery.
