New Section of Fremont SE Beltway Nears Completion
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced that drivers will soon have access to a new section of the Fremont SE Beltway in Fremont, NE.
The section of roadway will give drivers access to the new beltway from US-275 to Downing Street. Initially, the opening was expected on May 1, 2023, but that has been delayed slightly.
"The opening of the new US-275/Fremont Southeast Beltway Interchange to Downing Street will be postponed until the current phase of resurfacing on US-275 near Fremont is complete. Weather permitting, this phase of resurfacing will be completed by May 12, 2023," said NDOT in an update on their website.
Schemmer designed this approximately 3.8 mile long project which will connect US-77 to US-275. The design includes three bridges, four roundabouts, and a 4-lane highway with two lanes for eastbound and westbound sides. Work continues west of Downing Street where crews are building new sections of roadway to connect the bridge over the BNSF Railroad to US-77. Construction started in September 2020 and is expected to finish later this year.
