Schemmer is pleased to announce three employees have recently become shareholders and one has been invited to the Associate Incentive Program (AIP): Elena Hoff, PE, Tyler Lerdahl, PE, Lona Smart, MA, SHRM-CP, and Tyler Schmidt, PE. These employees have demonstrated the characteristics necessary to participate in the program.

Elena Hoff, PE has nearly a decade of experience in structural engineering, Elena has been a cornerstone of our team's success and innovation.
Elena's extensive background includes work on a diverse range of projects across 16 states, encompassing commercial, industrial, educational, and multi-family facilities. She has showcased her expertise with materials such as steel, concrete, light gauge, masonry, and timber. Her commitment to excellence and sustainable design has been instrumental in establishing Schemmer as a premier design firm in the mountain region since her relocation to Denver.
Elena holds a Master of Science in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Sustainable Structures and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. Her leadership in our sustainability committee exemplifies her dedication to creating environmentally responsible and innovative solutions for our clients.
Tyler Lerdahl, PE, has more than 10 years of civil engineering experience, Tyler has consistently demonstrated excellence in leading Schemmer’s use of the Microstation Open Roads design software. His proficiency in developing three-dimensional models for roadway design projects has significantly enhanced our ability to visualize the impacts on adjacent properties.
Tyler holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which has equipped him with a strong foundation in the principles and practices of civil engineering.
In addition to his design experience on numerous roadway and ADA curb ramp projects, Tyler has extensive experience coordinating the collection of traffic data using Miovision video data collection equipment for NDOT and the City of Lincoln. His responsibilities include scheduling intersection counts, monitoring equipment, collecting data from each station, and conducting QA/QC on the data received from Miovision.
Tyler's strengths lie in his ability to lead complex projects, foster client relationships, and innovate design solutions. His commitment to excellence and passion for civil engineering align perfectly with Schemmer's vision of delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions to our clients.
Lona Smart, MA, SHRM-CP brings over two decades of experience to Schemmer, specializing in all facets of organizational development. She has successfully navigated complex public-private partnerships and provided strategic guidance to a diverse clientele. Her expertise in leadership development, one-on-one coaching, and strategic planning has been instrumental in driving organizational success.
Lona holds a Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa. Before joining Schemmer full-time in 2021, Lona played a pivotal role in shaping the Schemmer Leadership Academy, mentoring eight cohorts of aspiring leaders. Her passion for human potential is evident in her background in behavioral health and her commitment to helping individuals and organizations reach new heights.

Tyler Schmidt, PE: With a career spanning nine years, Tyler is a seasoned Structural Engineer specializing in the design of diverse structures for both private and public sector clients. His expertise encompasses a wide range of projects, including buildings, specialty structures, and the evaluation of existing facilities.
Tyler is proficient in Building Information Modeling (BIM), producing comprehensive contract documents, and skilled in cost estimation and project scheduling for both new construction and renovation projects.
Tyler holds a Master of Structural Engineering degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with a minor in Mechanical and Applied Materials Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the same institution.
Tyler is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Texas, and Washington.
