Schemmer Announces New Shareholders, Associate
Omaha, Neb. - The Schemmer Associates Inc. (Schemmer), a local full-service architecture, engineering and construction field services consultant, is pleased to announce John Bloom, AIA, LEED AP, CDT; Rob DuVall, PE; Peter Hind, AIA, LEED AP; Paula Latham, MSHPM, CPRS; Josh Murphy, BPAC; and Matt Shimerdla, PE have become shareholders of the firm. Schemmer’s new shareholders are key members of the firm who effectively utilize their exceptional talents to accomplish Schemmer’s mission. These six professionals join 20 existing shareholders in the privately held corporation. M.J. Nachreiner, PE, was named an Associate, who similarly executes Schemmer’s mission to a high standard.

John Bloom, AIA, LEED AP, CDT, has more than 19 years of experience in new construction and renovation projects from design through construction administration. John’s experience includes multi-family residential, commercial office, entertainment, historic preservation, assisted living and educational facilities. John received a Bachelor of Architecture in 2002 from Iowa State University. He is a graduate of the 2017/2018 Schemmer Leadership Academy class and is a licensed architect in Iowa. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Central Iowa chapter, a member of Technical Advisory Network of the Historical Society of Iowa and serves as a consultant for the Field Service program through the State Historic Preservation Office of Iowa. John also serves on the Board of Directors of the Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.
Rob DuVall, PE, has more than 11 years of diverse experience in municipal, Sanitary Improvement District, residential, industrial, and commercial site design as a Civil Engineer. Rob received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2010 from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He is a graduate of the 2019/2020 Schemmer Leadership Academy class and the 2020/2021 Schemmer Business Development Academy class. Rob is a licensed engineer in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma. He is a member of the Greater Omaha Chamber’s Site Investigation and Development Target Advisory Group, Engineers Club of Omaha, Water Environment Federation, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He also serves on the Nebraska Foundation for Cancer Research Board.
Peter Hind, AIA, LEED AP, has more than 21 years of experience in residential, commercial, multi-family, and healthcare design. His expertise lies in pursuing new markets, promoting creative design, strengthening existing business areas, communication and collaborating with team members, contractors, and clients. Peter also serves as the Healthcare Market Leader for Schemmer. He received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture Studies in 1998 and a Master of Architecture in 2000 from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Peter is a licensed architect in Nebraska and Minnesota. He is a LEED 2.0 Accredited Professional and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is NCARB certified. He is also a member of the City of Lincoln Urban Design Committee, appointed by the mayor.
Paula Latham, MSHPM, CPRS, has more than 20 years of diverse experience in accounting and benefits management here at Schemmer. She was promoted to Accounting Supervisor/Deltek Administrator in 2019 and recently promoted to the Accounting & Benefits Manager. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems, a Master’s degree in Health Promotion Management and recently earned her certification in Directing Benefits Programs. She is a graduate of the 2006/2007 Schemmer Leadership Academy class, a member of the American Payroll Society and a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. Paula has served in numerous leadership positions in local non-profit organizations and is a twice-decorated Marine Corps veteran.
Josh Murphy, BPAC, has more than 11 years of experience managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology and is certified in Building Performance Analysis, Revit Architecture, and Revit Structure. Josh oversees Schemmer’s three-dimensional scanning and BIM services and is tasked with strategizing, maintaining, and implementing new technology applicable to the Architecture-Engineering design industry. He received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture Studies in 2010 from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Josh is a graduate of the 2018/2019 Schemmer Leadership Academy class and is a member of the Metropolitan Community College Architecture Advisory Board.
Matt Shimerdla, PE, has more than 25 years of diverse experience in all aspects of highway design, urban arterial design and pedestrian improvement projects. Matt received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1996 from Iowa State University. He is a graduate of the 2019/2020 Schemmer Leadership Academy class, and is a licensed professional engineer in Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Matt is a member of the Nebraska Institute of Transportation (NITE), a member of the Lincoln Engineers Club and serves on the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Lincoln Engineering Partnership Committee.
M.J. Nachreiner, PE, has more than 7 years of diverse experience as a structural engineer providing design for building renovations, additions, and new construction. M.J. received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2014 from Oklahoma State University. He is a graduate of the 2020/2021 Schemmer Business Development Academy class and will soon graduate from the Schemmer Leadership Academy. M.J. is a licensed professional engineer in Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. He is a member and the Secretary of the board of the Structural Engineering Association of Nebraska (SEAON).
