Schemmer’s Tracy Mumford, Principal, Director of Marketing and Business Development, and Mike Fortenbury, Construction Administrator, attended Omaha Public Schools' (OPS) ribbon cutting ceremony for Indian Hill Elementary.
OPS held the ribbon cutting ceremony at Indian Hill Elementary to celebrate the completion of the school's renovation project on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Students, staff, parents and distinguished guests of Indian Hill were in attendance, as well as representatives from Lund-Ross Constructors and Jacobs Engineering Group.
OPS Chief Operations Officer Dr. Antoinette Turnquist, Board President Lacey Merica and City Councilman Vinny Palermo were guest speakers. Principal Robert Holzapfel kicked off the ceremony and Bryan High School's JROTC Color Guard presented the colors as Bryan senior, Alexxis McDade, sang the "National Anthem."
"We are extremely grateful to our Indian Hill community for their support during the renovation process and to the voters for making this renovation project possible," said Holzapfel. "Our students have an improved environment in which to learn and we are excited for the first day of school."
Turnquist and Merica congratulated the school and community on the completion of the project and expressed how proud OPS is of the school's staff and students for all of their accomplishments throughout the years.
Schemmer's design for the Indian Hill Elementary renovation included fire, life safety, security and technology upgrades. The project estimated final cost is $11 million.
