Schemmer's Karl Person, AIA, LEED AP, attended a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for the newly renovated emergency center at UnityPoint Health, Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC), Brownell Emergency Center in Grinnell, Iowa.
Schemmer was retained by GRMC to provide architectural, civil and structural engineering design for the renovation of 4,300 SF and an addition of 870 SF to the existing emergency department at the hospital. The new emergency center has four private patient rooms and two trauma bays featuring expandable space.
“We welcomed hundreds of donors and local residents to our open house on Wednesday. Now we are ready to care for individuals’ needs in the modern facility,” said Doris Rindels, GRMC’s interim CEO. “The exceptional space now matches the experienced and talented staff who provide emergency care to all who enter our doors.”
