This initiative involved a meticulous evaluation of each facility's existing conditions, focusing on both the exterior and interior elements. The assessment covered a wide range of components, including the structural integrity of buildings, mechanical and electrical systems, and compliance with life safety and ADA standards. The goal was to document the current state of each facility, identifying areas that required maintenance or upgrades to enhance functionality and accessibility.

"In addition to the facility assessment, we also managed two library consultants to conduct surveys and analyze how the facilities are being utilized," says Project Manager Nate Baker. "The final report will take the analysis and project where the library can improve services and suggest where additional facilities and services would be best placed in the system to address current and future needs."

This proactive approach ensures that the library system can continue to offer high-quality services and resources to the residents of Oklahoma County.

By addressing both immediate and long-term needs, the Metropolitan Library System has taken significant steps to maintain its role as a vital community resource. The assessment not only highlighted areas for improvement but also helped in strategizing for future expansions and enhancements, ensuring that the libraries remain welcoming and efficient spaces for all users.

"It was an exciting and fulfilling project because the client was excited to get our analysis and was able to proactively use the information provided," adds Baker. "The project report also has helped them set future budgets for the maintenance of the facilities in their system as well as plan for future expansion of their services to the community."
