Schemmer President & CEO, Steve Kathol, Admitted into the ACEC College of Fellows

Schemmer is excited to announce that President and CEO, Steve Kathol, PE, SE, FACEC, has been admitted into the American Council of Engineering Companies' (ACEC) College of Fellows.

Members of the College of Fellows are nominated by peers through ACEC and its state member organization for admittance based on demonstrated personal commitment, service, leadership, and enhancing the public image of the consulting engineering profession. Upon nomination, each candidate is evaluated and voted upon by the ACEC Committee for inclusion into the College based on the qualification requirements established by ACEC.

Induction into the ACEC College of Fellows is a significant accomplishment. It signifies that the engineer has been recognized by their peers as a leader in the field. Fellows are expected to:

  • Promote the engineering profession: They advocate for the importance of engineering in society and work to raise awareness of the profession.
  • Serve as mentors: Fellows provide guidance and support to younger engineers, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers.
  • Contribute to the industry: Fellows actively participate in industry initiatives and organizations, working to improve the engineering profession.

Steve Kathol, SchemmerSteve Kathol is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Schemmer, where he oversees operations across eight regional offices. He leads the strategic direction of the firm and is responsible for overall vision, goals, and objectives.

Before assuming his current leadership role, he served as the firm’s transportation engineering group manager, focusing on bridge, highway, and traffic engineering. With over 31 years of experience in design and project management, Steve led and managed notable projects for the firm such as the US 6 Broadway Viaduct in Council Bluffs, IA and the Harris Overpass spanning the Haymarket District in Lincoln, NE.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is licensed as a Professional/Structural Engineer in ten states.
