La Vista to be distribution site for Sergeant’s products; center will employ up to 60 people

Sergeant’s Pet Care Products is relocating from Memphis, Tenn. to LaVista, Neb., near 126th Street and West Giles Road. Schemmer has been contracted to perform survey, architectural and engineering services, which began in January on a 40-acre site south of Cabela’s, and is expected to be completed by October of 2014.

This new 350,000-square-foot distribution facility will employ as many as 60 people and will have the capacity to employ up to 20-25 more people, if expanded in the future. Growing business was a key factor in the company’s decision to make the move, as well as closer proximity to their other Sergeant facilities in Omaha and Kansas City, Kan., which Sergeant’s foresees providing “significant freight savings.”

Being near Sergeant’s management offices allows for better utilization of resources and improved support from management,” the company said.

Sergeant’s Pet Care Products, now owned by Perrigo Co., and former entity of ConAgra Foods, “brings pet products such as flea remedies and grooming supplies to retailers.” According to Sergeant’s, the convenient interstate access makes them fully equipped to better serve their customers from “the center of the county,” as well as having the latest technology for processing orders.
