Schemmer Attends Ribbon Cutting for The Link in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Sioux Falls Mayor, Paul Tenhaken cut the ribbon and posted to his Instagram account saying, "It's been a three-year labor of love, but today we finally cut the ribbon on The Link. This facility well help 'link' people in our community suffering from addiction and mental health challenges to the appropriate resources, ideally keeping them out of jail, ER rooms, dangerous situations and getting them the critical help they need. Lives will be saved and extended in this very building and I couldn't be more proud of all the partners that came together to make this a reality. Days like this are what it's all about!"
The Link
Schemmer was tasked by the City of Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, and Avera Health and Sanford Health to design a Community Triage Center for individuals with a mental health or substance abuse crisis. Within the first floor of an existing building, Schemmer designed a low security, ligature resistant space for the Community Triage Center that will have a home-like non-institutional feel.
Within the confines of a small space, the Community Triage Center will be able to provide a short-term intermediary bridge and assessment for individuals that do not require an emergency room or detention until other appropriate behavioral health providers can be identified for their needs.
