Schemmer’s Iowa presence was initially located in the Quad Cities after the acquisition of Zieke Engineering in 1969. With a civil engineer and a surveyor on hand this was the firm’s first branch office. In 2000, Schemmer relocated the Davenport office to Council Bluffs, a community that was clearly on a path to growth.
Schemmer's Council Bluffs office serves as the firm's base of operations for construction field services. This includes, construction materials testing, special inspections, and civil construction administration. It also houses the firm's largest geotechnical lab, which opened in 2007.
Validated and Certified Geotechnical Laboratory
The testing laboratory enables us to provide time-sensitive quality control testing services for earthwork and concrete construction. The lab features state-of-the-art equipment for testing and follows strict quality assurance guidelines for equipment usage and calibration. Schemmer’s lab is validated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and certified by the Nebraska Department of Transportation and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
