On Monday, October 7, 2019, Schemmer's Molly Macklin, AIA, led a tour of the new 69,000 SF, state of the art, National Blue Ribbon winner Omaha Public Schools' Columbian Elementary School for the Nebraska Chapter Construction Specification Institute, Inc. (CSI Nebraska).

Attendees learned how the community, students and educators participated in the design process and how Schemmer integrated structure as a key design element in the open-air two-story library while blending 21st Century Learning Principles into the design.
According to its website, CSI is the national association dedicated to creating standards and formats to improve construction documentation and project delivery. Members create a network with the common goals of creating better specifications for a project, sharing experience and knowledge gained, and creating a network of resource people.
