“Strong economy boosts Lincoln area construction projects”

Schemmer’s Pat Birch, AIA, LEED AP, was featured in the July 2018 edition of the Lincoln Business Journal’s Architecture section, discussing how the economy is boosting Lincoln area construction projects.
“The first six months of 2017 weren’t quite as strong as the first six months of 2018, but overall, 2017 was fabulous,” said Birch. “2016 was one of our best years ever, and so far 2018 looks like it may be even better.”
Construction recently wrapped up on Pemberly Place, a 120-unit senior living community providing memory care, independent assisted living at 75th Street and Highway 2. “We do a lot of senior living projects throughout the country, but this is our first in Lincoln,” Birch said. “While the senior living market is very competitive, it’s still a strong market with a lot of demand.”
Mixed use, with commercial development on the ground level and apartments on the upper levels is a growing trend in multifamily housing. Schemmer currently has one of these facilities under construction on South 14th Street and hopes to start work soon on another for the same client.
Schemmer will soon start projects for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and Southeast Community College’s Lincoln campus, but cannot yet reveal details on those projects.
