Throwback Thursday – Schemmer’s 1968 Office, Bel Air Plaza
In 1968, Schemmer, which was known back then as Gollehon, Schemmer and Associates, Inc., designed an office building in a new shopping center called Bel Air Plaza at 120th and West Center Road in Omaha, Neb. The firm designed a building at the west end of the complex, and the second level became Schemmer’s home from 1968 to 1978.
The building was struck by a tornado in the summer of 1968 and sustained substantial damage from water and flying debris. Despite the devastation, Schemmer employees were back on the job within a day or two after the havoc.
